Little Mango in a Big World

2022 Golden Scroll Children’s Book of the Year

Maggie Mango is happy in her mango tree home until one day everything changes, and she finds herself in the world too soon. Like millions of children around the world, Maggie is misunderstood because of her circumstances. When a kind stranger reveals her potential, she learns she was made for great things.

A portion of the proceeds from this book is donated to projects changing the lives of vulnerable children in communities around the world.

No official statistic reveals the number of displaced children in the world today. Sources within the United Nations estimate up to 150 million children are living on the streets in urban settings—some with their families and many without. Other children are displaced to settlements and camps by war, natural disasters, and political or economic insecurity.

Maggie Mango represents the millions of displaced and vulnerable children around the world. As others begin to view Maggie in the light of her circumstances, she too starts to believe she is worthless and hopeless. When a kind man recognizes Maggie’s potential and provides the basic care she needs, Maggie finds the courage and strength to become more than she ever imagined.

The kind man in this story represents the ministries and organizations helping children realize their potential, regardless of their circumstances. A portion of the proceeds from this book is donated to projects changing the lives of vulnerable children in communities around the world.
